I graduated from Long Beach State with a degree in Accounting and decided to go down the traditional CPA route through tax. After working at a CPA firm for 5 years, I was introduced to an independent equipment finance company here in Huntington Beach, CA, Blue Street Capital. In my tenure there, I was able to work my way up through the accounting and finance side, eventually becoming the CFO. While there, I was able to transition the company from tax/cash to GAAP accounting, set up 13 week cash flow modeling, formalized the forecasting and budgeting process, developed a tracking and asset management system for all FMV leases coming to term, and adjusted the timing of our funding process which added basis point multipliers for the majority of deals funded. During that time, I was also able to get hands-on experience by either being or supervising almost every role in the organization from accounting, finance, HR admin, Salesforce/IT admin, credit & syndications, documentation & funding, leadership among others. As I am curious by nature, I loved being able to learn and understand the entire spectrum of the company and the industry as a whole. Being able to see the different needs and pain points of the varying departments was crucial to my success as I was able to solve problems in a way that benefited everyone. I was also lucky enough to be involved with the ELFA, serving on the Emerging Talent and Small Ticket Committees, and also enjoyed being a member of NEFA. I received my CPA and CLFP while at Blue Street along with earning MonitorDaily’s NextGen 40 under 40.
